ABOUT THE PROJECT
101M038 MASSIVE IMPACT was composed by French-American composer Gary A. Piatt, whose credits include music in the television series American Race, Tornado Alley, Vice, The Today Show, Hunting Hitler, 20/20, Dateline, Love & Hip Hop, Black Ink Crew, Dr. Oz, Alone and numerous production music albums including 101M033 Urban Drama for 101 Music Pty Ltd, released earlier this year.
“I’ve long admired the function of trailer music to build anticipation and excitement for preview and coming attractions in both cinema and television. I was excited when Art asked me to write an album for 101 Music in this style.
“I began the project by undertaking research about the most effective trailer music used over the past few decades, viewing and listening to these styles methodically. I then started to assemble my sonic pallet consisting of varied string ensembles, French horns, trombones, acoustic pianos, numerous synth pads and pulsating samples, choir, impact percussion, hand percussion, drums and explosive sound effects.
“I found it useful to compose the 2nd and 3rd movements of each piece before coming back to the beginning to score the subtle opening movement that introduces the storyline before moving into the action build and impact.
“I especially enjoyed the process that Phillips uses for the development of the project. Each track was firstly submitted as a demo, one title at a time. Art would offer suggestions for taking the track to the next level, interjecting keywords and phrase descriptions to help accomplish a clearer understanding at the compositional and production level. Once the final score and mix was established, I began to craft the alternate underscore versions and stings to broaden the use for producers and editors. Each track has 3 underscore versions and 3 stings, in addition to the main, :30 and :30 underscore.
Working on this project for 101 Music was a pleasure and I look forward to the sequel upcoming later this year”.

The album is highly charged orchestral music scores for powerful cinematic stories and is a welcome addition to the 101 Music Pty Ltd music catalogue.
The project was brilliantly mastered by Kathy Naunton of dB Mastering, Sydney Australia.
My next release, ‘Wise Guy’ – cheeky detective and forensic drama, scored by Italian-American composer Eliseo DiDomenica, is due for release mid-September 2018.
